About the game

Real bars. Real rivalry.

Pattaya Bar Simulator is a free browser fantasy game built by a working Pattaya bar-chain owner. Every drink that earns you money in the game is a real drink, sold at a real bar, on the real night you are playing for.

Why this exists

A few things came together at once.

A real chain of Pattaya bars

The author runs a chain of real bars in Pattaya, the kind of street-level Thai beer bar that any tourist on Soi LK Metro or Soi Buakhao will recognise. Every venue has a real till, a real roster of ladies and cashiers, real opening hours, and a real fight on its hands every night for the next walk-in.

The game is a faithful sim of that fight. The drink numbers are the till tape, the rosters are the rosters, and the rivalries are the rivalries. The wrapper is fantasy. The data is real.

The POS data flows live

Each venue's point-of-sale system reports back to the game. At 09:00 Thai time every morning the night's takings roll into the inbox. The drink that earned your virtual bar money is the same drink that rang up at the real venue. No random number generator. No made-up scores.

That is the load-bearing difference between this and every other bar game. The world is the data.

How a day plays

Five minutes a day is the design target. Anything more is optional.

1. Morning

09:00 Thai time. The Morning Brief drops in your inbox with last night's earnings, who worked, any sabotage that landed while you slept.

2. Afternoon

Lock tonight's captain for the 2x multiplier. Scout. Ring the bell on a rival for a shared boost. Done in two taps.

3. Evening

The venues open. Drinks ring up. You watch from a phone in the UK, the US, Australia, anywhere.

4. Overnight

Matchups settle. Tomorrow's roster, tomorrow's chips, tomorrow's standings get locked in. Sleep. Repeat.

Built by Marine Entertainment

Same team as the bars themselves.

The game is published by Marine Entertainment, the same group that runs the real venues. There is no licensing layer between the game and the data because they share an owner. The Pattaya Turtle, the game's in-world fictional newspaper, makes occasional appearances in the marketing copy and in the daily Morning Brief.

Patch notes and live development happen in the Pattaya Mongers Discord, where there is a dedicated #🎮 bar-simulator channel with the dev team posting directly.
